It is unsure of when body modification actually started to appear, but many date it as far back as B.C. times. The modification is more known from the Song Dynasty when foot binding became very popular among young girls wishing to marry—up to present day time. Scarification, tattoos, piercing and plastic surgery are just a few of the changes that can be made to the body. But with all these practices to change, or â€Å"fix†, the body can we stop and ask the question: is it really worth it? While some modifications are more harmless than others, it doesn’t mean they are acceptable. So many complications can happen as a result of these changes. Body modification is a common practice that many find socially acceptable, but the damage it can cause to the body should make it something to be avoided. Foot binding was a common delicacy in China for centuries. The practice was done to reshape the foot to make it appear smaller and dainty, which was found attractive to ma ny Chinese men. Binding the feet was mainly done by the wealthy, but soon cascaded to the rest of the country.
